New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (NY HELPS) Contingent Permanent

The NY HELPS (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program Statewide) is a New York State program that allows civil service agencies to hire qualified permanent employees quickly and without requiring them to take a competitive civil service exam. It was created to help agencies fill critical vacancies by streamlining the appointment process, though candidates must still meet all other minimum qualifications for the job.

The work involves responsibility for the cleaning, care and upkeep of a school site, buildings or an assigned section thereof in a suburban school district.

A Custodian performs a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
• Mopping floors; washing walls, ceilings, and windows; dusting woodwork and furniture; stripping and finishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets; collecting and disposing of rubbish, etc.
•Performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair work, such as fixing or replacing broken shelving, hardware, glazing windows, repairing window coverings; unplugging toilets, traps, and sinks; replacing faucet washers; repairing and adjusting flush valves; replacing blown fuses, switches, outlets, ballasts, light fixtures, etc.
•Maintaining grounds – cutting grass, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves, removing snow, and maintaining power equipment used in these tasks.
•Operating hot water and low pressure boilers, heating and ventilating systems, and performing routine maintenance on heating and hot water equipment (replacing filters, cleaning equipment, adjusting thermostats and related controls).
•Replenishing lavatory, cleaning, and other supplies.
•Supervising lower-level custodial personnel in cleaning and care activities.
•Reporting damages or needed maintenance repairs requiring a higher-level repair capability.
•May be required to serve as a watch attendant.
•May set up equipment and seating facilities for meetings, demonstrations, etc.
$28.07 per hr.

School Psychologist Long Term Sub Position

Wide Range of Responsibilities, such as:

• Administering psychological tests and interpreting assessment results for the purpose of diagnosis and placement
• Providing individual and group counseling and other mental health services as appropriate • Participating in interdisciplinary team and IEP meetings • Assisting in the implementation of an RTI model of supports

Elementary Teacher(s) - 2026/2027 School Year (Probationary)

Responsible for instructing students in an elementary school. Creates lesson plans, administers praise and constructive feedback, instructs students in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health, and supports social emotional learning.

Individualize learning experiences, as appropriate, creating flexible grouping for varied skill groups based on data and student need. Observe and evaluate students’ performance.

The Lancaster Central School District is looking for certified building based substitute teachers for grades K-6.  Must be certified.

Building-based subs are compensated at the rate of $185.00 per day.

Substitute Registered Professional Nurse 2025-2026 School Year

Provides assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management, and/or referrals related to the health and medical care needs of students. The goal is to minimize absences due to illness, maximize educational opportunities, and contribute to a healthy school climate. Performs other related duties as assigned.

If/when the teacher goes to a without-pay status, the sub will become an interim sub and will be paid per LCTA agreement as applicable, i.e. step 1 master’s degree = $55,300 prorated - step 8 masters' level = $58,750 prorated with full benefits.
