ENL/ESL Teacher - 7-2-26

Overview:
The Lancaster Central School District is searching for an innovative, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to serve our District as an ENL/ESL teacher. We are interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We value educators who possess a willingness to design and execute instruction specific to students’ experiences and needs.

Core Responsibilities:
•     Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meets state and federal standards
•     Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the district’s/school’s
instructional program so as to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targets
•     Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching 
techniques and strategies
•     Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each
student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area
•     Administer academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress 
in meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition
•     Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and 
progress
•     Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student 
responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
•     Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction to meet the 
needs of individual students and subgroups of students
•     Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and 
interests of students
•     Participate in planning and developing program goals, objectives, curricula, and methods
as requested
 

Step 1 MA $55,300 - Step 8 MA $58,750
English Language Arts - Long Term Sub 9.1.26

Tentative Dates: 9/1/2026 until 1/31/2027

If/when the teacher goes to a without-pay status, the sub will become an interim sub and will be paid per LCTA agreement as applicable, i.e. step 1 master’s degree = $55,300 prorated - step 8 masters' level = $58,750 prorated with full benefits.* 2025/26 rates

Core Responsibilities:
•Create and deliver lessons grounded in researched best practice, current formative data and specially designed instruction.
•Individualize learning experiences, as appropriate, create flexible grouping for learning experience. Observe and evaluate students’ performance in meeting grade level standards.
•Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans, making learning targets clear with students for each lesson as appropriate.
•Manage student behavior in the classroom with appropriate disciplinary techniques.
•Meet course, grade level and district performance goals.
•Create a positive educational environment for students to learn, grow and promote success for students of all abilities.
•Utilize curriculum that reflects the diversity of educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students being served.
•Participate in ongoing professional development and read to stay abreast of current topics in education.
•Work collaboratively with administrators, department chairs and colleagues to create a positive work environment that promotes student achievement.
•Develop and utilize various curriculum resources and participate in curriculum writing/modification sessions.

*$160.00 per day - $240.00 per day

The Lancaster Central School District is anticipating potential full and/or part-time possible vacancies in the areas listed below for the 2026-2027 school year:

* Step 1 MA – $55,300 through Step 8 MA – $58,750. Rates reflect the 2025–2026 school year. The contract for 2026–2027 is currently under negotiations.
