Job Description
The Lancaster Central School District is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills to provide clerical support essential to the administrative accuracy and efficiency of the entire school district. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting daily operations by managing legal documents, preparing reports and correspondence, assisting with scheduling, and maintaining confidential files. This position requires strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders, and the capacity to meet deadlines. Prior experience in a school or office setting is preferred, but not required.
 
Core Responsibilities:
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Serve as the confidential secretary to the Superintendent of Schools.
• Serve as a confidential district clerk to the Board of Education.
• Provide administrative support including correspondence, personnel issues, and preparations for administrative team meetings.
•Attend all Board of Education and Budget Work Session meetings (evening hours required).
• Coordinate all aspects of Board of Education and Budget Work Session meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas, managing supporting    documentation, and arranging meeting logistics.
• Ensure compliance with public posting requirements and maintain accurate and accessible records, including official minutes, agendas, and signed    documents.
• Serve as a key point of administrative support for Board leadership by organizing materials for review and signature, and maintaining the district’s    archive of Board-related documents.
• Receive and manage all legal documents (e.g., request for records, subpoenas, impartial hearing requests) received by the school district.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Job Qualifications

Must possesses administrative experience handling confidential information, with strong interpersonal, service-oriented, organizational, financial, and technology skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize both routine and urgent matters, work independently, and manage deadlines effectively. Must be able to communicate professionally with district stakeholders and handle challenging situations in a positive and constructive manner. This position is exempt from competitive examination or qualification requirements in accordance with Civil Service rules. Appropriate qualifications will be at the discretion of the appointing authority.
