Overview:
The Lancaster Alternative Academic Program Coordinator at Lancaster High School is an instructional leader who creates and maintains a positive and safe environment that promotes learning and meets the needs of our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining day to day operations of the program along with providing coaching and feedback to the teachers and support staff on the instructional team. Additionally, they will be responsible for implementing and building course programming, facilitating meetings between team members, and oversight, management and support for students. Candidates with training or experience dealing with various populations of students, training in Restorative Justice and implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Job Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strength in academic leadership, including best practices, curriculum management and development, assessment design, and knowledge of intervention strategies.
• Analytical skills to identify areas of need and create positive change.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and human relations skills.
• Knowledge of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
• A valid New York State Certification in a teaching or related service position. Certification as a School Building Leader is preferred but not required.
• A minimum of five years of successful experience in education.
Core Responsibilities:
• Ensures the effective delivery of an instructional program that meets the needs of our alternative students.
• Provides leadership in the implementation of current programs and student achievement results and the integration of this analysis into curriculum development activities aligned with standards and school/district goals.
• Effectively supports teachers in their professional growth and development to meet the needs of their students.
• Communicates effectively with stakeholders and involves them in aspects of the school.
• Supports and promotes special activities in the building that contribute to a positive and comprehensive school experience for the school community.
• Implements systems, processes, and planning functions that are consistent with effective organizational leadership, academic achievement, climate safety, and employee/student performance.
• Other duties as assigned by by the Principal or Director of Special Education or Secondary Education.
