Assistant Elementary Principal
Overview: The Assistant Principal at William Street School is an instructional leader who creates and maintains a positive and safe environment that promotes high standards of learning in an upper elementary setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising students, faculty, and staff. The candidate will also assist in managing resources in accordance with the District’s mission, goals, and policies. This person will provide effective evaluation and professional coaching to instructional and support staff along with developing and implementing professional learning communities, with an emphasis on English Language Arts and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
Core Responsibilities: Ensures the effective delivery of an instructional program that meets the needs of all students. Provides leadership in the implementation of current programs and the analysis of student achievement results, and the integration of this analysis into curriculum development activities aligned with standards and school/district goals. Effectively supports teachers in their professional growth and development to meet the needs of their students. Communicates effectively with stakeholders and involves them in various aspects of the school. Supports and promotes special activities in the building that contribute to a positive and comprehensive school experience for the school community. Supervises and improves upon systems and processes related to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support as related to student academics and social-emotional growth. Fosters and facilitates an environment that is welcoming and supportive of all students. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Expected Start Date: July 1, 2025
Strength in academic leadership including best practices, curriculum management and development, assessment design, and knowledge of intervention strategies. Analytical skills to identify areas of need and create positive change Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and human relations skills. Knowledge of current New York State initiatives and standards. A valid New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA). A minimum of seven years of successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and/or administration.
